Penn State's New Tee Line is Now Open

June 4, 2011

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA - New and exciting improvements have been made around the Walker Clubhouse and the new Tombros Varsity Team Clubhouse within the last few years.  The most recent is the new practice range artificial tee line designed by Heatwole Golf Design.

While the new putting green between the two clubhouses was being constructed at the Penn State Golf Courses, plans had already been in place for the driving range tee line to be relocated.  The result was additional yardage with an improved hitting surface.

The state-of-the-art hitting surface gives golfers a realistic simulation of hitting from a fairway.  .  The existing tee station dividers were replaced with new mobile dividers to give the golf staff the ability to adjust the location of the hitting stations on the new tee line.

In front of the new artificial tee line a new natural grass teeing area is in the process of being established. Behind the tee line is a new concrete pedestrian only walkway along with some seating has been added.  The hitting areas and the new walkway are separated by landscaping which runs the entire length of the tee line.  Overall the improvements give the tee line a more upscale appearance in keeping with the other improvements around the clubhouses.
